Loving Like Jesus

Focus text: John 13: 34-35

Loving is not a suggestion it’s a commandment. It’s the sign that shows we belong to Christ. Faith is more about how you live than what you say.

How did Jesus love?

1. He didn’t hang out with the disciples in his turf but on their own turf. He met them where they were but didn’t leave them there. Every disciple received the gospel according to his own understanding/ exposure. The only way your love can be built upon is when it’s used/ worked upon.
2. He invited them to his own turf. He invited them out of their zone to his. May times we go to their turf and stay there, and truth is we can only survive for a little while.
3. He included them. He made them part of the family. He bathes them in love. He made them part of his work, his journey, his life.
4. Jesus listened patiently and gave them grace.  We should listen to understand and not to give response. Be quick to deal with Others with grace.
5. Jesus prayed for his disciples. He constantly stood in the gap for them. Spent time paying attention to their spiritual needs
6. Jesus served them. We need to seek to serve.
7. He didn’t only care for them he cared for their friends and family too.
8. Jesus sacrificed his time and later his life for his disciples. Any love not founded in sacrifice is not Gods kind of love.

My Twice have I heard:

Jesus accepted them by going to their turf, reminds me of what I heard some time back ” Don’t try to clean the fish before you catch it”. Once God told me “Do not try to change them, love them from where they are to where I want them to be” #TheseWordsChangedMyHeart
