Focus text: Luke 15
Resurge means to comeback, rebirth, rebound, restoration, recover, resurrection.
The story in Luke 15 is about a young man who pressured his father into giving him his own portion of his inheritance and as soon as he got it, he left home and went on to squander it all!
One day he, having suffered a lot, now eating food of swine he was tending to, he realized what he had lost, he came to himself and determined that he will go back home, at least servants are treated even better than how he was living presently.
A few thoughts:
- Situations in his life pointed to the fact that something was wrong. Our live should keep getting better and when it’s not we should ask questions. We should not take things on the surface but ask questions. Have a self-audit, examine your life, your choices and check for pointers to show the direction your life is headed
- God expects that we use our talents and Gifting and not abuse or neglect them.
- Many speak but never quite get up and act. The prodigal son came to himself, spoke to himself, and then he got up and acted.
The most beautiful part of the story what happened when the prodigal son gets home, and his father sees him. His father’s reaction exceeded any expectation he had, his father welcomed him back him, in no ordinary way!
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry”.
– Luke 15:22-24
Do you know you have a father? A father who loves you? It’s time to arise and go back to him.
God loves you beyond words can express. Do not let self-condemnation deprive you of going back to God, it is a lie from the devil, God is waiting for you with arms wide open.
Understand that what you experience is not who you are. It doesn’t change who you are!

My Twice have I heard:
This story is one I have always loved, for one it shows me the true loving nature of God and how, no matter how far I have wandered off, he is waiting for me with arms wide open! What I heard twice was that my experiences are not who I am, yes, I may go through things, I may not have as much money as I would like, but that does not take way, nor diminish who I am, I am the daughter of the most high God! I am royalty, I belong to God, Hallelujah! And oh well, me sitting in a garage, does not make me a car!
