On keeping your Commitment…

After a lot of disturbance earlier in the week, I gave in, I told by baby brother I would make his pancakes, next week, just to get him to stop disturbing me, little did I know that the young man was going to hold me accountable. On Wednesday, he came to me asking “Blessing, when will you make the pancake?” thinking he had forgotten, I blurted out confidently, “Next 2 weeks” he stopped me saying “ but you said next week before, now you are saying next two weeks, later you will change it again to another next week” hearing this, I said No! No!, I admitted I had forgotten and I told him I will make it for him next week, so he does not see me as a lying sister. Then he smiled and said good and left afterwards. This got me thinking…

Keeping commitment is very very important. If you say you will be there, be there. If you say you will get something, then get the thing. If you say you will call, call. If you say you will do this, then do exactly what you said you will and not something else.
I understand that at times it may be very difficult to meet up with one’s commitment, due to unforeseen circumstances, but those unforeseen circumstances should be the exception and should only delay time not scratch the commitment off completely.

I was changing the date for my baby brother because I just had the feeling that I would not have the time to make it or the finances to get all the ingredients, but I already said I would, and that WILL shouldn’t change to WON’T, if not I will be showing him a very bad example and that will not be good.
